An incomplete cast lead two-part cloth seal of probable sixteenth century date (AD 1500 – AD 1600). Length: 25.0mm; width; 20.2mm and 5.3mm thick. Weight: 7.53g. The two circular discs would have been joined by a connecting strip. However, disc 2 is missing. Disc 1 in light relief: Crown over portcullis with an E (probably) to left of crown. The surrounding inscription is incomplete and the surviving part is unreadable. The flat head of the stub that formed part of disc 2 is plain. One part of hinged rectangular medieval strap-plate of folded sheet secured by two rivets near straight attachment edge. Single hinge pivot. Central round perforation through both parts. Decoration consists of three rounded lobes separated by two V-sectioned notches at both ends of both sides of the front part. The central perforation is shared by several examples from London (Dress Accessories fig. 141), but is not very similar to the sole hinged example (no. 1217). 45 (39 without hinge pivot) x 22mm. Gap for strap 3mm. Second half 14th century.

Romano-British abraded fragment of cast copper allloy object. A curving band is tangentially touched on the outer edge by a less tightly curving band of similar width. Both ends of both curves are broken. The outer curve is distorted. Diameter of inner c.3mm. Width 14 –15mm. Thickness 2.5mm. Possibly part of the openwork foot-ring of a vessel, but not of the standard type with circular apertures, e.g. Tassinari 1975 pl. XXVIII nos. 144-6.

Fragment of medieval gilt copper alloy strap fitting with convex headed rivet, rounded terminal, expanding to distorted break. Although a flat strip, the object is clearly cast. A broad transverse moulded groove or flute next the end and two small projections on the sides combine with an area of closely spaced punched impressions to suggest an animal head. The remainder is covered with a curling stem and trefoil reserved against a background of similar punched impressions. Length >21mm. Maximum width 12.5mm. Probably 12th century.

A slightly worn and corroded copper-alloy nummus, probably of Constantius Gallus (AD 351-4) (Reece Period 18), FEL TEMP REPARATIO, soldier advancing left spearing fallen horseman. Mint unclear, but mintmark appears to end with a crescent. The mint with a crescent at the end of the mintmark for coins of this period is Trier. However, coins are only recorded for Constantius II. It is, though, plausible that coins were struck for Constantius Gallus as well RIC VIII, p. 167, cf nos. 355-60. 1.94g; 16.9mm

Approximately one quarter (deliberately cut) of a Nummus of The House of Constantine; 'Victory on prow of boat' reverse type; minted at Trier in AD 330-335. The coin has straight edges, indicating it was cut with a tool such as a chisel. The surfaces are slightly worn and corroded. It measures 8.8mm wide (surviving diameter), 1.6mm thick and weighs 0.52g.

Large fragment of a vessel dating from the late medieval, post-medieval or early modern period, i.e. c. 1600-1900. the sherd is very worn and weathered, but it seems to have been part of a green-glazed red earthenware jug or pot. However, the find comes from near a river and the greenish residue on the surface could be erosion/river products rather than eroded glaze. In that case, a more recent date seems more likely.

Small fragment of Samian ware vessel dating from the Roman period, i.e. c. AD43-410. Rim sherd made from sand tempered reddish fabric with (very faint) some of the shiny red slip still present on the obverse. It may have been part of a broad-rimmed flat dish or plate. These vessels sometimes have moulded decoration on the upper side of the rim, but this sherd is extremely weathered and any additional decoration would have been worn away.
