Cast copper alloy Roman lock pin. The shaft is square in section and has broken just below the head. The head is formed of an upside down hollow dome above a disc. The upper dome has a central circular shaft set in it which protrudes above the top. A similar example can be seen in the Colchester report, p.124/5, no.4143.

Small fragment of Samian ware vessel dating from the Roman period, i.e. c. AD43-410. Small body/wall sherd from the lower part of the vessel, near the pedestal foot ring, none of which remains. Made from light red clay with sandy inclusions. Reverse is very worn, but some of the red slip remains on the obverse, together with an thin incised line (probably a circle running around the inner circumference).
