Large fragment of a vessel dating from the late medieval, post-medieval or early modern period, i.e. c. 1600-1900. the sherd is very worn and weathered, but it seems to have been part of a green-glazed red earthenware jug or pot. However, the find comes from near a river and the greenish residue on the surface could be erosion/river products rather than eroded glaze. In that case, a more recent date seems more likely.

Small fragment of Samian ware vessel dating from the Roman period, i.e. c. AD43-410. Rim sherd made from sand tempered reddish fabric with (very faint) some of the shiny red slip still present on the obverse. It may have been part of a broad-rimmed flat dish or plate. These vessels sometimes have moulded decoration on the upper side of the rim, but this sherd is extremely weathered and any additional decoration would have been worn away.

Large fragment of Samian ware vessel dating from the Roman period, i.e. c. AD43-410. Probably 2nd century. Large bottom sherd with much of the pedestal foot ring still remaining. Probably part of a bowl of type Dragendorff 37, the commonest type of Roman Samian ware in Britain at the time. The vessel was made from sand-tempered reddish fabric with a shiny red slip which is still present on the obverse and reverse. The sherd does not display any decoration except a circle of roulette decoration on the inside (see image).

Very small sherd of a vessel probably dating from the later medieval or post-medieval period. Brown glazed red earthenware. The decoration and curvature suggest that the fragment comes from a plate which was plain on the outside and decorated on the inside. The obverse of the sherd displays two stripes of white slip which, after glazing, have taken on a yellow colour.
