County: Warwickshire
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation
A cast copper alloy Post Medieval dress hook. The body of the dress hook is sub-oval in plan and is moulded with a high-relief female bust facing left. Dress hooks tend to be described with the loop as the upper edge and the hook being the lower component. If this is correct, the bust is inverted. Broad period: POST MEDIEVAL
County: Wrexham

This post medieval copper alloy object in the form of an anthropomorphic mask has the look of a Bellarmine, or perhaps a Turks Head in style. The white markings on the surface may be paint residue. Under a magnifying glass, there is some evidence of gilding, thus the object might be considered as a possible furniture, or vessel mount. The object is cast and shows signs of being broken along the right hand side of the face. There are no obvious fixing attachments evident.
