A complete cast copper-alloy pin of probable mid-late Anglo-Saxon date. The pin shaft, which is circular in section, is bent at a sharp right-angle about three-quarters along its length. The head is globular (bi-conical) with a slight fine collar where it meets the shaft. The patina is a rich mid green. Pins of this type are sometimes dated as Roman, especially if there is no collar between the pinhead & shaft but many are also known from Anglo-Saxon contexts. A complete but corroded cast copper-alloy pin of probable mid-late Anglo-Saxon date. The pin shaft, which is circular in section, is bent at a sharp right-angle halfway along its length. The head is polyhedral (multi-facetted)and decorated with ring and dot design. Pins of this type are sometimes dated as Roman, esppecially when there is no collar between the pinhead & shaft but many are also known from Anglo-Saxon contexts. In this case the close association of other Anglo-Saxon material makes the later date more likely.
