Body sherd of a thick-walled coarse ware vessel. It is grit-tempered and finished with a black slip on the outside. The fragment which survives is off the upper part of the shoulder where it meets the neck. Due to thickness and fabric it is likely that this comes off an Iron Age vessel.

Collection of 20 Roman pottery sherds comprising: 9 in reduced grey ware fabrics, 1 from a flange form bowl or dish. 1 body sherd of white ware 3 Oxfordshire colour-coated wares (inc. 1 x beaker rim & 1 plain ?bowl rim) 1 x ?Nene Valley colour-coated ware body sherd 2 x shell-tempered (Late Roman) sherds (inc. 1 hooked rim from a jar) 2 x sherds of pink-grogged ware (Ref: O81) 2 x sherds of early (c.1st century) carinated jar or bowl forms, 1 x sand-tempered & 1 x possibly limestone/grog-tempered. Dated c.50-410 AD.

Collection of Roman ceramic wares collected from one discrete area. The assemblage is essentially early Roman in date with almost all (except for 2-3 items - see *) being mid to late first century AD (c.50-100 AD). Inventory: 4 x sherds of "Abingdon Type" fine white/oxidised wares inc. 1 butt beaker rim, 2 butt beaker bases & 1 rouletted body sherd. 81 sherds of reduced wares (all shades of grey in colouration) which include: - Coarse & fine sand tempered (early) fabrics with at least one butt beaker rim & a butt beaker/girth beaker body sherd with cordon & oblique incised…
