Object type: FINGER RING
Broad period: POST MEDIEVAL
County: North Yorkshire
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation
A highly tinned copper-alloy finger ring of post-Medieval date, probably 18-19th century.
The finger ring has an undecorated hoop with a flat bezel. The bezel is roughly hexagonal in plan with an impression of corded decoration around the edges. The flat surface has a crude anchor carved into its face.
The object was originally tinned to give it a silvery appearance.
The light weight of the object and poor production quality suggests it was a low cost trinket rather than a valuable piece of jewellery.
