Fragment of Medieval rectangular double-looped buckle frame, edge decorated with baluster mouldings and parts of sides. Width 39mm. A very similar example from London has been dated to the middle of the 13th century. (Fingerlin 1971, Abb. 44 Kat. Nr. 292). Perhaps a 15th-century date is more likely. Cf. also Whitehead 2003 no. 477, dated c.1450 - 1600.

A cast copper alloy buckle plate, probably. The plate is rectangular in plan, with one narrow edge having a central semi-circular indentation. This edge may have originally formed a fold over the strap bar and the slot was to allow the pin to move on the strap bar. The terminals of the edges on this portion of the plate are abraded and narrowed which may suggest a broken edge. In the opposite corners to this edge there is a rivet hole, with a rounded headed iron rivet in place. Just over half a double-looped Post Medieval probably asymmetrical buckle frame, white-metal coated. D-shaped loop with grooved rounded lobe in centre of edge. The missing loop was probably trapezoidal, cf. Whitehead 2003 no. 581, which has a spiky lobe. Length >28mm. Width 19.5mm. 17th century.

Traces of probable black lacquer in lower parts of ornament. 34mm (estimated) x 26mm. Similar to Whitehead 2003 nos. 422-3, although their lobes are left undecorated. 16th century.

Cast copper alloy annular double looped buckle length 60mm, width 48mm, thickness 4mm, weight 28.98g. The frame is decorated with four sets of moulding consisting of four transverse lines. Two moulded knops project from the reverse, these are decorated to look like tassels and consist of a bulbous base that is decorated with three lines of cross-hatching, from this projects a trapezoid which has a series of horizontal lines. A cast copper alloy buckle. In plan the frame is asymmetrical with one trapezoidal loop and the other one semi-circular. The strap bar is covered with iron and iron corrosion which was probably originally the pin. Either end of the strap bar there is a small decorative spur. The edges of the frame are bevelled on the exterior edges. The surface of the frame has traces of a mid green patina. The frame is bent forming a sub ā€˜Lā€™ shape in profile. A cast copper alloy buckle, which is rectangular in plan. The sides and strap bar were narrowed. The strap bar is rectangular in section, whereas the sides are sub semi-circular in section. The remaining edge of the frame is expanded in width and decorated with three central transverse grooves and a bordering transverse groove either side. Cast copper alloy buckle dating to the Medieval period. The buckle has a rectangular frame with spurs on the loop; the spurs flank the recessed pin bar which has a rotating closure. There is an integrally cast plate. The plate is elongated and ovoid, with a perforation toward the frame and an intact rivet on the reverse of the terminal end. In the angles between the frame and the plate, there is some evidence of gilding.
