Mesolithic to Neolithic stone pebble hammer or mace head. The pebble hammer is sub-triangular in both plan and an elongated pointed oval in profile. The pebble, identified by Dr. Jon Radley (Warwickshire Museum) is a hard sandstone, probably quartz-cemented. Due to the 'hardness' it resembles a 'Bunter quartzite' pebble. These are river worn pebbles of hard sandstone that are widely distributed throughout the Midlands. The pebble is a mottled yellow/brown colour and is smooth.
