A complete struck/ hammered silver long cross voided penny of Henry III, minted by Willem in Northampton, between AD 1248-50 (diameter: 17.5mm; thickness: 0.5mm; weight: 1.4g). This coin can be classified (based on classificatons by North and Wren: see below) as a Class IIIa. Initial mark: star. The coin is in a slightly worn but good condition. A cut half silver penny of Henry III (1216 - 1272), Voided long cross Class II (1247 - 1272). Only a fragment of the X of Rex can be seen, but it suggests that the coin is Class IIa rather than IIb. Probably minted in Northampton. North number 985.
