An incomplete cast copper alloy single loop probable swivel buckle with integral plate, dating to the Medieval period, between AD 1200 - 1400 (length: 34.5mm; width: 29mm; thickness: 7.5mm; weight: 9.2g). The buckle has a rectangular shaped loop with a square section. The cast copper alloy pin is still intact and is held in place between the two arms of the buckle frame by a cast copper alloy hinge that is faintly visible to either side. A copper alloy Early Medieval strap end fitting into Thomas's Class A. The strap end is oval and has a zoomorphic terminal which is damaged at the very end. The rounded ears are very prominent. The central panel contains a Trewhiddle style animal in relief. Only minute traces of silvering survive. The attachment end is broken and missing, but that end of the central panel is concave suggesting the presence of a trilobed palmette. The strap end is 45.3mm long, 13.4mm wide and 3.8mm thick. A cast copper alloy double looped asymmetrical buckle, with an intact strap bar. One loop is rectangular, the other is rounded. The frame is uninterrupted; so therefore has no pin recess. The pin is missing, but iron staining indicates where it once was. The metal has lost most of its original surface and the metal is a mid reddish-brown colour. This type of buckle dates from circa 1575 – 1700. Parallels for this type of buckle can be seen in Whitehead, 2003, p91.

A cast copper alloy horse bridle boss. The boss is circular in shape, with a raised circular central dome, surrounded by a decoratively moulded lobed border. The central dome is decorated with an openwork fleur-de-lys design. There are two empty rivet holes, one at the top and one at the bottom. The reverse of the object is undecorated. The object is slightly worn and some of the original surface is missing. Horse bosses of this type date to the 18th century.

A cast copper alloy rectangular shoe buckle. The buckle frame has not been drilled for a separate spindle. There is a pin recess on the frame, but the pin is missing. The buckle is a mid reddish-brown colour and the surface is pitted. These buckles date from circa 1690 - 1720. A similar buckle can be seen in Whitehead, 2003, p102.

A cast copper alloy sub-rectangular shoe buckle, with a drilled frame for separate spindle. The spindle, pin, stud chape and tongue are all missing. Part of the iron spindles remains in situ in one of the drilled holes. There is no pin recess on the frame. The buckle is a dark greyish-green colour and the surface is smooth. A large bun shaped lead weight, with a circular base. The weight is decorated with a raised cross, which is sat on a raised circular plate. There is a circular groove running around the base on this motif. It has not been perforated. The base of the weight is well rounded. A typology of lead weights has not yet been developed, so these weighs are not yet completely understood. Due to a lack of excavated examples these weights must remain undated. The weight appears to be complete. The lead is a light whitish-grey colour. A similar weight can be seen in Biggs and Withers, p22.

Neolithic polished axehead, broken in antiquity and reworked for reuse. It is 106mm long, 53.2mm wide (cutting edge) and 28mm thick (widest point). It is narrowest (and thinnest) at the butt end, 32.7mm (12.5mm). The flint is grey in colour, and patinated. It has a much duller grey patination in the polished areas - the areas flaked afterwards have a lighter, milkier patination. Both long edges are flattened and smoothed, c.5.5mm high. The butt end has suffered some damage and although been re-touched, it is still rough and uneven. The cutting edge however has been completely reworked…
