An incomplete cast copper alloy oval framed composite buckle of Medieval date (c. AD 1330 – c. AD 1450). Length 33.5mm, width 22.6mm and 2.6mm thick. Weight 3.49g.
The frame and the spacers of this buckle are cast in one piece and the two plates that sandwiched the spacer prongs are missing. The oval frame is 20.8mm in length and has a maximum width of 22.6mm. The upper face of the frame is bevelled around each side from the lip to the junction with the spacers and the rear of the frame is flat.
