Incomplete copper alloy brooch of Colchester derivative, Polden Hill (Mackreth Group 4, flat wing ends), Mackreth 2011, 4.l. Plate 48. The wings are incomplete, the extant wing is semi-cylindrical with perforated wing / end cap. The axis bar, spring and pin are missing. The axis bar, spring - pin may have been formed from iron as large amounts of iron corrosion are present solely around the head of the brooch. Copper alloy crossbow brooch. Complete except perhaps the pin is missing the end (within catchplate); worn and corroded areas on the surface, probably quite heavily cleaned. Wide hexagonal section crossarm with double rib moulding at junction with rounded knobs. Headknob cast on the top of the bow, smaller and also rounded on a cylindrical base. A cast copper alloy possible plate brooch fragment. The fragment is roughly lozenge shaped with broken edges. It is decorated with a spiral within a double linear border. The voids are filed with the traces of a white substance, possibly enamel. The reverse is undecorated. It has a mid green patina and is very worn. It is probably Roman in date.

Roman complex riveted varient of a rosette (also known a thistle) brooch of copper alloy with a lion decoration. These brooches consist of four elements; the bow and spring cover, the leg and catchplate, the spring/pin and a rosette plate. In this example, the leg and catchplate, rosette plate and a section of the bow are present, rivetted together. A corner of the leg is damaged and the edges have numerous pits. The object is covered in a black patina weighs 3.15g and measures 39x9mm.

Incomplete but remarkable Middle/Late Saxon Scandinavian cast-in-one Oval brooch, one end missing and the other squashed, with single pin lug and catchplate on hollow reverse. Elaborate moulded decoration includes four small bosses, knot interlace and probable animal heads. Textile impressions on the reverse are from the casting process (MacGregor 1997, 45; Rogerson and Ashley 2008, 437-9, fig. 7 no. 38). Late 8th century.
