An incomplete cast copper alloy Ward Perkins (Type A1) purse bar of Late Medieval date (c. AD 1450 - c. AD 1500). Length 34.0mm, maximum width 62.0mm and maximum thickness 15.0mm. Weight 33.24g. The end of each arm (including the attachment plates) and part of the suspension loop are missing due to old breaks. The suspension loop, when complete, would have been roughly oval in plan. A slightly incomplete cast copper alloy probable pin, dating from the Roman - Post Medieval period, between AD 43 – 1800 (length: 136mm; thickness: 3mm; weight: 9.88g). The pin, which is slightly misshapen in a number of places, has a sub-angular section. At the end, the artefact becomes pinched or flattened and is incomplete at the tip. At the opposing end, the probable pin tapers to a flat-sectioned point. There is no decoration on the artefact and, overall, it is in a slightly worn but fair condition.

Copper alloy Medieval clasp or buckle. It has an offset bar and concave sides, with a widened and flattend sheet 18mm wide forming the outside edge of the subrectangular loop. The outside edge of the frame is oval with no decoration or perforations. The sides of the frame are rectangular in section and become slightly thicker as the outside edge is approached. They continue underneath the outside edge for 7mm. Whilst it resembles the anthropomorphic clasps such as 568 (Egan and Pritchard) with a human head on the expanded outside edge, no such decoration is present in this case. In…

A complete cast lead conical weight, dating from the Roman – Post Medieval period, between AD 43 – 1800 (diameter: 21mm; thickness: 10.5mm; weight: 28.36g). The weight is conical in plan with a slightly uneven circular section (see diameter above). There is a slightly off-centre cylindrical drilled hole down the length of the artefact with a circular hole at either end (diameter of hole: 6.5mm). There is no decoration on the artefact and, overall, the weight is in a worn but fair condition.

A large polishing or rubbing stone recovered in assocation with a quantity of early Roman pottery and possibly dating from that period (AD50-250). The recrystalised sandstone stone measures 73.4mm long, 68.7mm wide, 35.9m thick and weighs approximately 339g. One corner is damaged. The remainder of the faceted surfaces have been worn smooth through use.
