15. One incomplete ceramic roof tile, dating from the Roman – Modern period, between AD 43 to the present day (192mm x 110mm; thickness: 55.5mm; weight: exceeds weight limit of scales [over 250g]). The rough and hard-fired fabric of this sherd is orange in colour with numerous small grit inclusions. There is a slightly raised and protruding ridge along the complete outer edge of the roof tile. Overall, the artefact is in a worn but fair condition.

Incomplete copper alloy Roman brooch, possibly an Aesica brooch. The upper half is missing, and is broken approximately half way up the bow. The bow is flat and trapezoidal in shape, tapering to the break. There is a moulded and jagged crest running down the centre. The foot is in the form of a fantail and is decorated with three ring and dot motifs. There is a large catchplate on the reverse.

A fragment of a small copper-alloy socketed hammer with narrow realtively rounded hammer end. Of middle or late Bronze Age date and only 8 other socketed hammers are recorded in Suffolk to date. One face has a diagonal blade mark but there are no obvious deliberate breakage marks visible. The socket extends to within about 10mm of the hammer end. The hammer has a medium green patina, it is 36mm in length, 31.5mm in blade width and 5mm in blade thickness.
