a copper alloy Roman bow brooch fragment. It is the end of the bow with the catch-plate. The bow measures 25.39mm from the incomplete terminal to the foot, which has a small moulded knop at right angles. The catch plate forms a narrow triangular shape, wih some corrosion within the fold. It is 9.04mm in width, and weighs 1.38g.
The shape of the bow foot terminal suggests it is likely to belong to a Colchester derivative bow brooch, and to date to the first century AD.
