A worn base sherd from a wheel-made Samian ware Roman bowl. The fabric has an oxidised mid-orange hue with dark orange colour coat. The sherd is now irregular in form, having been broken from its original circle. The lower surface features concentric rings produced during the making of the bowl. It is raised up on a stand, triangular in cross-section with rounded corners: L.: 12.9mm, Th.: 9.1 - 17.3mm. A copper alloy Colchester derivative brooch with a double lug spring attachment and dating to the first century AD. The wings are semi-circular in section and conceal a spring mechanism with overhead chord. The bow is humped with a prominent central rib. The catchplate is triangular and openwork. The brooch measures 30mm in length and 20mm in width.

a medieval copper alloy buckle frame with fragment of plate attached. It is trapezoidal, with a worn sheet roller on the outside edge. The frame measures 17.04mm in length and is 20.21mm wide.The plate is folded round the bar of the buckle frame, with a cental slot for the pin (not present). The plate is incomplete, 10.42mm in length, with a broken, uneven edge. It is folded back 180 degrees, and is corroded. The buckle and frame weighs 2.73g.

A copper alloy Colchester one piece brooch dating to the first century AD. The head comprises two rectangular wings. One surviving coil of the integral spring extends from the back of the head. The bow is arched, tapering and oval in section. The catchplate is worn but appears trapezoidal in form. The brooch measures 40mm in length and 10mm in width.

Silver Irish sixpence of James I, second coinage, initial mark: coronet: 1609-1610. The coronet is not listed as a mint mark in the seaby volume for Ireland, but it is for the English issue under James I second coinage issue. However, the inscription matches that of James I first coinage issue 1603-1604. The coin seems to be a regular coin rather than a contemporary copy.

The sherd is roughly triangular in shape with a small rim (up to 6.35mm wide). The coating has been worn off slightly in some areas; the vessel seems otherwise undecorated.

Incomplete cast copper alloy plaque or mount, oval in plan, but missing one edge, and flat in profile, depicting a figure sitting on a sleigh holding a sack behind him in his left hand and a rein in his right hand which is attached to a reindeer. With a western eye, this looks to be a Santa Claus figure, but his dress does look like that of an oriental warrior, so this may be an eastern version of the tale. Silver, penny, Henry I (1100-35), profile/cross fleury type (c.1102-3), Mint: Wilton (Wilts), Moneyer: Sewine, North 1994: p.196 N 858. Confirmed by Martin Allen of the Fitzwilliam Museum, who states that the inscriptions have been obscured by double-striking, but this is identifiable as a coin of the Wilton moneyer Sewine, reading +SEPINE ON PITV. This moneyer is not listed in North, but there is another Henry I type 2 penny of Sewine at the Fitzwilliam Museum, ex Conte (see EMC 1200.0703).

A copper alloy wrist clasp of Hines form B12, dating to the late fifth or sixth centuries AD. The clasp comprises a rectangular section bar, with three rectangular panels separated by transverse ribs and grooves. Three semi-circular lugs with circular perforations extend from one edge; from the other,a rectangular attachment loop. The clasp measures 36mm in length and 16mm in width.

An incomplete and badly corroded copper alloy Roman Trumpet brooch dating from 45 - 200AD. The bow of the brooch has an angular profile and an angular D shaped cross section. The bow tapers from a flared head to a turned foot knop. The brooch measures 49.7mm in length, 13.7mm width, is 18.8mm thick, and weighs 10.63 grams. The head of the brooch is abraded and irregular in plan and tapers into the bow. The reverse of the head has a cast projecting bar which divides the head into two parts.
