Nickel-plated brass coin of Julius Caesar, made to commemorate his death on its 2000th anniversary? 1956?? Obverse: CAESAR AVGVSTVS IMPERATOR ROMANO[RVM?] SC C and SC VIL (which refer to his dates c.100-44 BC) The axes refer to his power to execute (they normally appear with wooden rods in the Fasces). Reverse: ALEA IACTA EST = The die is cast (which J.C. was heard to say when he crossed the Rubicon) VENI VIDI VINCI = I came, I saw, I conquered SC L and SC IIIL (50 and 47) are probably the dates of the Civil War with Pompey (S. Moorhead, pers comm).
