A copper alloy medieval strap fitting, probably a clasp plate as it lacks the recess for a pin necessary for it to be a buckle plate. The fitting is made from a single folded sheet, with a rounded fold that could have accommodated a buckle frame. There are three pierced circular holes in each side, arranged with two either side and a central one. The two holes nearest the fold have domed-headed rivets still in situ. On either side the fitting is decorated with a rectangular border double lines of opposed punched triangles. It is torn in two places on each side.

A hexagonal fragment of a copper alloy strap end, with angled lower side edges and a (now) squared-off bottom edge. The upper and lower edges may be broken, with the strap end originally longer in length. Two rivet holes are arranged vertically in the lower half of the shield. Traces of iron corrosion products remain within the upper of these. The surface is corroded but traces of gilding remain. The gilding appears to be confined to bands with zig-zag edges, possibly in a heraldic design. This design is no longer distinct but there is a main cross dividing the shield-shape area wi…
