Workflow stage: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation
A worn and incomplete rectangular double-looped buckle of post-medieval date. The buckle has lost the majority of one of its loops as well as the pin. The frame is slightly bevelled both internally and externally; with a flat lower surface it has a trapezoidal cross-section. The extant outer edge features a protruding moulded pin rest with slight traces of iron corrosion product. Further traces around the centre of the pin rest suggest an iron pin. The frame can be seen to have been bent when viewed in profile. The buckle frame's form bears similarities to one illustrated in Marg…

A fragment/ body sherd of Roman wheel thrown grey ware pottery, dating from the 1st-4th century AD (54mm x 42.5mm; thickness: 5.5mm; weight: 18.3g). A fairly hard but fine-textured ceramic with a light grey fabric colour and a light orange/ pink inner fabric that can been seen in side-section.
