The buckle is cast copper alloy. In plan originally it was a sub-oval shape with two loops, however now only one loop and a strap bar remains. The strap bar is a triangular in section. The remaining loop is a 'D' shape in plan, with the exterior edge having an integral knop protruding at each corner. Both terminals of the strap bar also have moulded decoration. The pin is missing. The buckle is cast copper alloy. In plan it is a sub-oval shape with slightly off-set strap bar. The strap bar is a rectangular in section. The sides of the loop are convex on the exterior and concave on the interior. The edge of the loop opposite the strap bar is off-set and has a narrowed section which has a separate sheet of copper alloy curled around this portion of the loop forming a roller. The brooch is flat (thickness 3.34mm) and decorated with four circular elements in openwork, forming a lozengiform shape. The four circular elements are interconnected with five rounded 'beads'. The feet of the bird are fixed at either side of what looks like a cylindrical pin head. It is worn with part of the edge missing, and has a central device, which could be circular or part of a shield outlined by a band of pellets underneath. Within this is a legend or initials reading i q underscored by a bar. On the rivet side there is an outline shield shape and no pattern within, surmounted by a rectangular bar divided into three squares, each with a dot in the centre. The seal diameter is 20.44mm, and the rivet 13.52mm. It weighs 7.63g.
