Incomplete folded sheet copper alloy chape of Medieval, fourteenth or fifteenth century date (AD 1300 - AD 1500). Length 42m, maximum width 20mm. Weight 9.97g. There is a seam along one edge where the sheet has been joined. The upper edges are ragged and incomplete. At the top it is 20mm in width and tapers evenly towards the bottom where it has a width of 11mm. The chape is undecorated and is in fair condition. It has a patchy mid green patina.

Cast copper alloy strap fitting with integral lugs and white metal coating. Sub-rectangular plate with tri-lobed ends and central constriction, with foliate decoration. Blunt lug at either end on the reverse, both bent inwards. Tracs of tinning or silvering on all surfaces, including the lugs and reverse. Probably 16th-17th century. Very large lead shield shaped weight. The weight has a large moulded cross in the centre with two crudely incised diagonal lines running from top left to bottom right showing the weight as a crest. There is one incised chevron in the central band beneath the cross, and it is likely that there were more that are now lost to wear and damage. In the centre of the weight there are two broken iron pins which would have been used to suspend the weight. The mass of the weight is 7lbs 3oz.
