Object type: WEIGHT
Broad period: ROMAN
County: West Sussex
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation
A small weight made of lead (possibly a spindle whorl). The weight is roughly circular in shape, with a hole through the middle (3.5mm diameter). One surface is flat the other is domed. The edges are rounded. The weight is undecorated. The weight has been crudely made. The surface of the weight is quite pitted. The lead has gone a light greyish-white colour. Due to that fact that so few lead weights have been found in archaeological contexts, only a very broad date range can be allocated. Weight: 11.16g.
