Eighteen sherds of coarse ware pottery of Roman date. Hand made and not high-fired. Four base sherds weigh 410g. and fourteen body sherds weigh 372g. Total weight 782g.
The breaks are old. However, some of the sherds join together. The outside of fabric is a dark grey/black colour and has two orange coloured margins within. The tempering is rounded quartz with silver mica. All the sherds appear to belong to a single vessel and it can be estimated that the base of the vessel, when complete, was about 10cm in diameter.

Sherd of Medieval wheel made pottery, dating to the 14th-15th century. The sherd is a rim fragment, probably from a jar. The fabric of the pottery is fairly coarse and gritty giving the surface a pimply texture. It is dark grey in colour with orangey flecks. There is a rough patch of surface near to the rim of the vessel which is where a handle or lug would have been attached to the jar. The sherd weighs 63.2g and measures 67.8mm in width and 63.7mm in length.

Copper alloy leg from a medieval cooking vessel, probably a cauldron or skillet dating to the 13th-14th century. The leg has a flattened triangular section and is broken near to the top. A central rib runs down the front of the leg and it has a pointed terminal. The leg weighs 30.9g and measures 38.7mm in length, 26.64mm in width and 9.9mm in thickness.

Copper alloy leg from a medieval cooking vessel, probably a cauldron or skillet dating to the 13th-14th century. The leg has a flat section and is roughly triangular in shape (in plan). The leg is broken near to the top (presumably where it was once attached to the cooking vessel). A central rib runs down the front of the leg and it has a rounded terminal. The leg weighs 50.69g and measures 43.13mm in length, 38.26mm in width and 13.55mm in thickness.

Decorated body sherd of Black burnished Ware of Roman date. The breaks are old. Length 55mm, width 52mm and 6mm thick. Weight 21.83g.
The sherd is decorated with horizontal wavy lines within a zone defined by an upper and lower horizontal groove. Probably wheel thrown and tempered with fine sand quartz.

Three sherds of Roman pottery. Two are decorated rim sherds and one is a plain body sherd. The two rim sherds join together and the breaks are old. Length (when joined together) 78mm, width 111mm and 8mm thick. Weight of both sherds 102.56g. The body sherd is 32mm in length, 39mm wide and 7mm thick. Weight 11.58g. The breaks are old on this sherd. All three sherds are heavily tempered with fine rounded sand quartz and may belong to a single vessel. A cast copper-alloy unidentified object. This object is shaped like a crown with four points, arranged in pairs opposing eachother. The object is hollow and rectangular in cross-section measuring 17mm by 13mm in size and 9mm in thickness. No parallel could be found for this object but it is most likely to be medieval in date and could possibly be a decorative fitting for a knife or dagger.

An incomplete Roman 'amphora-shaped' strap-end with its upper terminal missing due to old breaks, now worn. Measuring 49mm in surviving length and 19mm in width. The thickened terminal at the base survives, it is 13.5mm in length with a circular cross-section measuring 5mm. It has four circumferential mouldings and tapers towards a rounded terminal. A cast copper-alloy chape. U-shaped measuring 38mm in length and 23mm in width at its widest point, with hollow sides and terminal. One side arm of this chape is incomplete due to an old break, now very worn. The edge front face of the terminal end of the chape has a rounded W-shaped boarder. This chape is medieval in date and is likely to be c12th century in date.

A cast copper-alloy two-piece scabbard chape with a knop terminal and openwork design. The front plate of the chape is incomplete. Just over half of the chape is missing. The entire reverse is also missing. The chape survives in two pieces, the second piece is only a small fragment which can not be fitted back onto the main body of the chape.

A complete hollow copper-alloy ring formed from two halves. This ring is c15mm in external diameter and c6mm in internal diameter. One half of the hoop of this ring is extened with an oval cross-section and has a width of 7mm the other half is not and has a width of 2mm. The extended half of the ring is decorated with four petal-like mouldings on both faces and traces of gilding can also be seen.

There are two incised lines in the shape of a cross on one side of the central block, but this pattern has been disrupted by an oval casting flaw. An incomplete copper-alloy pin, only the head and a stub of the shaft of this pin now survive, the rest of the shaft is missing due to an old break, now worn. The head is large and ployhedral, the shape of a cuboid with its corners cut, off measuring 13mm in height and 12mm in width and 11mm in thickness. It is worn with patches of powdery green active corrosion visible. The shaft of the pin is 2mm in length and has a circular cross-section measuring 2mm in diameter.

Copper alloy, post-medieval mount with integral pointed lugs. The mount is circular and domed, consisting of two concentric circles with a central incuse pellet. The back of the mount is hollow and the remains of the two lugs or rivets are present on opposing edges of the mount. The mount weighs 2.61g and measures 17.03mm in diameter and 9.56mm in thickness. An identical parallel can be seen in Brian Reads 'Metal Artefacts of Antiquity' page 33, fig.18, no.266.

An incomplete early-medieval copper-alloy key. The bow is incomplete due to an old break but appears to have been circular. The stem is cylindrical, measuring 19mm in length; it is solid but bored to be hollow at the end. It has two pairs of circumferential grooves around it. The bit is worn and projects at right angles from the underside of the end of the stem; it is rectangular, measuring 17mm in length and 10mm in width. It has two rectangular projections projecting at right angles from its terminal end, giving an L-section. These are worn.

Copper-alloy horse-harness pendant in the shape of a shield with traces of red enamelling around the upper edges of the pendant which have not been bent; otherwise the patina is brown with patches of green, but no active corrosion product; the surface is too worn to make out any detail and the point of the shield has been bent over so that the bottom of the pendant is rounded; the suspension loop is circular in profile and complete. 13th - 15th century.

A complete copper-alloy signet finger ring. Measuring 27mm in external diameter and 20mm in internal diameter. The hoop is decorated with two parallel circumferencial mouldings. The bezel is oval in shape 18mm by 13mm in size. It has a deep boarder groove and within this an indented design. This design seems to depict the head of St John the baptist on a platter, a design more commonly seen on 14th century seal matrices. This signet finger ring is most likely to be late 15th or 16th century in date.
