Object type: THIMBLE
Broad period: MEDIEVAL
County: Warwickshire
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation
The thimble has been made from a single skin of copper alloy. It is uncertain the method of manufacture. The thimble is 18.4mm tall, and 22.3mm wide. A diameter cannot be given as the thimble has been squashed.
The indentations are square in plan, and have been handmade. They have been placed in rows. The base of the thimble has been decorated with a row of incised hearts.
The thimble is probably dated to the 15th to 16th centuries. Holmes described the dating of these thimbles in relation to their decoration.

Object type: VESSEL
Broad period: IRON AGE
County: Lincolnshire
Workflow stage: Published
Cast copper alloy mount in the form of the foreparts of a boar. The mount has been cast with forelegs thrust well forward, a projecting hind part and a corroded hole through the nose. The feet are cloved. The reverse of the body of the mount is concave.
A number of parallels have been found. Examples from Aldborough, Eastcheap and London are published by Foster (1977, p21), and are described as probable vessel mounts of provincial rather than Roman style and date. Exact dating and use is, however, uncertain.

A probable copper-alloy socket of a candle holder. Consisting of one cylindrical socket, measuring 38mm in height and 23mm in width. The socket is hollow. The outer face is decorated with two pairs of two circumferencial grooves. The base of the socket tapers and has a cylindrical solid projection in its centre, this projection measures 7mm in width and is 6mm in length, it is difficult to tell if this projection is complete or has been cut/broken. If broken it may be part of the candle holders stem, if complete it is unusual. This socket is most likely to be later medieval or ear…
