The portion of the clasp which remains is the outer edge opposite of the strap bar. This edge is expanded and is decorated with a high relief face. The face is a sub-lozenge shape with triangular eyes and the apex of the face is the nose. Above the face is a complete circular hole and a second incomplete hole. These are likely to be decorative openwork, instead of being functional. The reverse of the item is flat with the side edges forming a '¬'.

The item is a rectangular shaped copper alloy sheet. One narrow edge is angled forming a point, the opposite edge is abraded and not the original edge. Decoration is incised on the upper face. The design consists of a curvaceous 'H' which looks like a chalice on its side. This design is repeated incompletely as it is unfinished when it meets the abraded edge. The area around the 'H' design has an incised zigzag pattern. The reverse of the item is plain and flat.
