Copper alloy buckle fragment. The straight expanded outer edge of a single looped buckle frame with small knops at the end of its narrow strap bar. The outer edge is densely scored with a neat cross-hatch, whether as decoration or to improve grip is uncertain. The strap bar and one side are lost, and the remaining side has been wrenched from its alignment with considerable force. Suggested date: Medieval, 1250-1400.

A casting which had apparently attempted the copying of a flat discoid object of diameter 29mm with a rim, radial lines and pellets in relief, the latter possibly falling between the radial features. This is overlapped by a second slightly larger flat discoid object with even less distinct features appearing in relief on the other side of the object as it now exists. Copper alloy plate brooch. Cast circular plate with a central reserved spot and four oval cells in a symmetrical or cruciform arrangement with a reserved dot in each angle, Mackreth type British Plate 2.unc. A glossy patch may be relict enamel occupying about one quarter of the field, now of a dark brown tint, and one oval cell retains red colorant. The stub of the seat for a hinged pin and of a folded catch plate remain on the back. Suggested date: Early Roman, 100-200.

Lead spindle whorl. Cast biconvex whorl with a moulded design on either side and a thick circumferential rim where they meet, and with a moulded aperture of diameter 10.9mm. One side bears a medial moulded circumferential rib which is crossed by a series of angled or spirally radial ribs with single pellets in some of the compartments thus defined. The other side bears radial ribs defining simpler compartments, most also occupied by a single pellet. The finder notes voids in the body of the object arising from its mis-casting. Suggested date: Post-Medieval, 1500-1600.

Cast trapezoid zoomorphic stirrup mount, as kindly identified by the finder, who suggests this to be an example of Williams Type 3 Group 1, highlighting Williams 1997 no. 420 from the Immingham/Grimsby area as a close parallel. Others of the Group come from Lincolnshire locations within a day's ride. The plate is sub-rectangular or trapezoid in form with a basal flange set at an obtuse angle to the rest and retaining slight traces of rust on the back. Lead. Possibly a spatula or double ended implement cut from cast lead sheet. It diminishes in thickness from one oval end to the other. Its thinner end recalls the spatulate end of a lead stylus, intended to erase marks from a wax tablet. There are also classes of double ended bone and metal implements and spatulae, of uncertain function but associated with Early Medieval occupation, at sites such as Flixborough (North Lincolnshire) and Beverley (East Riding of Yorkshire).
