An iron age copper-alloy inscribed unit of the North Thames region / Catuvellauni and Trinovantes, dating to the period c.AD 10-40, Cunobelinus Pegsus Victory Left type. Obverse: Pegasus left, head turned back, CAM below. Reverse: Victory standing left, [CVN] in front. ABC p. 140, no. 2921.
By c.AD10 Cunobelinus, ‘hound of Belenus’, son of Tasciovanos and Cymbeline of Shakespeare, had united the Catuvellauni and Trinovantes. By AD 43 his family had control of the Cantiaci, Atrebates and Regini, and influence with the Dobunni and Iceni and possibly the Corieltavi also. Suetoni…
