An incomplete copper-alloy awl probably of late Bronze age date, c. 1150-800BC. The object comprises a copper alloy bar. One end is of square cross-section and tapers to a point. The bar terminates at the opposing end in a worn break with a circular cross section. The surface has a deep-green patina with no evident of decoration. Measurements: length: 44.62mm; diameter: 5.27mm and weight: 5.68g.  Plain copper alloy awls are hard to date precisely and are found from the Bronze age to Medieval period. However, examples of this form are thought to have been introduced in…

The notches forming the barbs are curved and relatively shallow. One face has invasive, scalar pressure flaking along both edges. The other face has some invasive pressure flaking but less regularly applied around a pre-exisiting deeper flake scar. There is slight damage to the tip. An incomplete cast copper alloy spearhead dating from the Middle to Late  Bronze Age (c. 1550-800 cal BC) consisting of a the blade and part of the socket. The spearhead's blade is broadly kite shaped in plan with a point of maximum width (PMW) placed 10.9mm along its 74.5mm length. Below the PMW the blade edges first narrow in a convex arc before abruptly becoming straight diagonal lines to meet the haft of the object. Above the PMW they narrow smoothly in a slightly concave arc to the blades' point. Both blades have irregular chips mis…

A triangular copper alloy fragment which is flat, with a round loop at the apex and an irregular oval aperture at the centre, which may be a casting flaw. The fragment tapers in thickness to the wider end, which has broken across its width. Possibly from a later Bronze Age to early Iron Age 'Hallstatt' razor of Type Unterstall or Poiseul. See CORN-D78C78 for a whole example of the type.

The tip of a Middle Bronze Age cast copper alloy artefact, probably a spearhead dating from the Taunton phase, 1500 BC to 1150 BC. The blade is double edged, tapering, with a central rib on both faces that produces a strongly lozenge shaped cross-section. The cutting edges are damaged and/or missing.  Each face of the solid midrib is decorated with two uneven and not very straight lines of punched or drilled dots (pointille). An incomplete Bronze Age to Medieval copper alloy awl, dating to c.1250 BC-AD 1500. It is incomplete because there is a small early break at one end. It is a long slim oval in form, but slightly wider towards one end than the other, sub oval in cross section with flatter sides. One end is pointed, the other probably also originally pointed but now jagged at the break. Both flatter sides have a wide longitudinal groove which echoes  the overall shape, more pronounced on one side than the other. Close to the break there is a chunk missing from the edge …

A fragment of a Middle to Late Bronze Age copper alloy spear head probably dating to c. 1550-800 BC. The fragment consists of the point of the blade. It is sub-triangular in plan, with a circular sectioned mid-rib, from which project the wings of the blade. These taper in section into the point. The rest of the spearhead is lost to an old break. Length: 34.4mm; Width: 11.2mm; Thickness: 6.8mm; Weight: 5.37g Precise typological classification is difficult considering the fragmentary nature of the object, however its form would suggest a Middle or Late Bronze Age date.
