A Post Medieval cast copper alloy hooked tag or dress fastener dating to the 16thcentury.
The object consists of a flat piece of copper alloy with a curved rectangular hook placed vertically at the lower edge. An inverted-trapezoidal lobe is placed at the upper edge of the dress fastener. Below this the body of the fastener is broadly circular in plan. The decoration consists of a moulded pellet in the centre surrounded by a moulded incised flower consisting of six petals. An incomplete cast copper alloy dress hook or hooked tag, of Early Post Medieval dating (AD 1500 to AD 1600).
The hooked clasp consists of an incomplete sub rectangular attachment loop, a diamond or lozenge moulded central plate with engrailed (scalloped) border, with a probable moulded rose in the centre, and an incomplete single sharp hook. The back is plain and undecorated.
It measures 33.07 mm in length, 17.47 mm wide and 1.54 mm thick. It weighs 1.8 grams.
