An incomplete copper alloy strap end of early medieval date, dating to the 9th Century AD. The strap end is classified as a Thomas Class A, being broadly rectangular with slowly tapering ends, especially at the 'snout' end, the strap end has been bent forwards. The strap end is divided into three areas; the 'snout', zoomorphic in design with pronounced ears, a central panel of a possible interlaced beast. An incomplete Medieval copper alloy strap end, probably a buckle or clasp plate, dating to c AD 1200 - 1500. These are difficult to date closely unless decorative features are extant. It consists of  a folded rectangular sheet with parallel sides, the two ends of which  would originally have met at the split attachment end but one of which now falls short, due to an early break. Medieval (13th to 14th century) possible strap end: The copper alloy strap end is formed by two separate crescentic plates, each has rivet hole in each corner. The plates are joined with a copper alloy rivet. The upper plate has traces of a downturned lip at the apex of the exterior edge, forming a void between the two plates. The upper surface of the plate is engraved with a black letter 'R' within a linear border. The lower plate is undecorated. The surface of the strap end has a dark orange/brown patina. A copper alloy strap end dating from the Early Medieval period. It is in the shape of an elongated oval with a zoomorphic terminal at the closed end. The front shows has a decorated panel containing a Trewhiddle style beast executed on a Niello background. The attachment end is split and has the iron rivet is still in place. The strap end has a length of 32.51mm, width 10.36mm, thickness 2.55mm, weight 4.34g. It is a Thomas Class A type 1 strap end dating from the 9th century.

A broken, three piece, copper alloy strap end consisting of a front and back plate with a sheet spacer, and dating from c1350-1400. There is a tri-lobed terminal knop at the closed end. None of the plates are complete and it is not possible to determine the number of fitting rivets. The strap end has a light green patina. It is 21.8mm long, 9.7mm wide and 2.5mm thick. It weighs 1.47gm. See Museum of London, Dress Accessories, p. 147, No. 703.

A copper alloy strap end consisting of a strip of folded sheet metal, and dating from c. 1270-1350. The open end has rounded corners and the outer end is delineated by a deep transverse groove. There is one copper alloy fastening rivet, which remains in place in the centre of the open end. Traces of gilding remain on the upper face. It is otherwise undecorated. It has a light green patina. A copper alloy front plate from a composite three-part late Medieval strap end of 14th-15th century date. The plate is 45mm in length and rectangular, with a pointed terminal. The front is engraved with a tree, with cut side branches and a globular canopy with individual leaves detailed. The ground beneath the tree is engraved with a sinuous line; the field behind the tree has a turned or hatched decoration.

Description: An incomplete silver strap end, one half of the attachment edge is missing due to an old break. It is rectangular in shape and the attachment end is solid but thinner than the rest of the strap end, it is flush with the back face. A complete copper-alloy medieval circa 14th century strap end. Rectangular in shape with a rounded terminal end with a small projecting knop in its centre. Measuring 21.40mm in length and 13.26mm in width. There are two opposing copper-alloy rivets, one through the centre of either end. The strap end is filled with soil but probably has a sheet spacer occupying its whole width.

An incomplete and worn cast copper-alloy Early-Medieval strap end of Thomas Class A. It is missing most of the attachment end due to old breaks and has extremely worn surfaces. The strap end is sub-oval in shape with convex sides, tapering to a decorative zoomorphic terminal. The terminal has a rounded snout above which are possible eyes and elongated oval shaped ears with punched dots and crescentic decoration. A probable outer plate of a medieval circa 14th century strap end. The sheet is rectangular in shape with a rounded terminal end, it measures 26.53mm in length and 13.51mm in width. There is a copper-alloy rivet through the centre of the square end and this end is also decorated with five circular holes, four smaller ones surrounding on central larger hole.

A complete copper-alloy medieval strap end, of composite form with seperate front and back plates and narrow side strips of sheet copper-alloy c2mm wide in between. This use of side strips meant that rivets were only needed at the attachment edge to hold the strap in place, this distinguishes this strap end from other forms, similar examples have been found in London (Egan and Pritchard 1991, 138-9). A copper-lloy probable outer sheet from a medieval composite strap end. This sheet is oval in shape and measures 26.83mm in length and 27.59mm in width. One edge has a circular hole between two small circular rivet holes, on copper-alloy rivet survives in situ. The back face of this sheet has traces of a whiteish solder, this and the rivets would have held this outer sheet in place originally.

a copper alloy medieval strap end of fourteenth century date. It is rectangular, with one short terminal being straight, and the opposite one being rounded (or tongue-shaped). There is one rivet in each corner of the straight edge, and fragments of leather are just visible between the metal plates. About half-way along the strap end there is openwork decoration in the form of two pairs of piercings, two smaller circles above two larger ones. The surfaces are very worn and eroded. It measures 35.11mm in length and 16.04mm in width at the straight edge, weighing 6.3g.
