A probable Roman copper alloy strap fitting. This strap fitting consists of a circular disc with a recess around a central conical protrusion, measuring 18mm in diameter. Projecting from one edge of this disc there are three parallel integral copper alloy loops, with corroded iron within them, this projection measures 12mm by 7mm in size and is rectangular in overall shape. It may be that an iron attachment fitted through the copper alloy loops perhaps forming a hinge of some sort. On the back face of the circular disc there is an integral rectangular loop, measuring 17mm in length…

An incomplete cast in one copper-alloy possible strap fitting/mount. It is circular in plan with a rounded front face and a hollow back face, measuring 20mm in diameter and 7mm in thickness. On the back face there are the remains of two now fragmentary oppposing protrusions,(1.7mm in surviving length and 3mm in width). These may have originally have met and formed a loop or have terminated and formed two projections. They would have presumably have attached this possible strap fitting to a strap or belt of some kind. This strap fitting is possible most likely to be Roman in date.

An incomplete copper-alloy strap fitting or mount. Roughly half of this mount survives, the rest is now missing due to an old break. When complete this mount would have been lozenge shaped, it now measures 21.5mm in surviving length and 15mm in width at its widest central point. The complete terminal has a protruding knop at its tip. The front face of the mount is slightly rounded and the back face hollow. Projecting from the centre of the complete terminal end of the mount there is an incomplete integral rectangular shaped loop. Measuring 7.1mm in survivng length and 3.5mm in wi…

A Roman copper alloy strap fitting. It is cast in one, with four now incomplete, integral rivets. This strap fitting is roughly circular in shape, measuring 28mm in diameter. It is open work and consists of a circular outer ring, the two ends of which do not meet, one terminal is rounded and the other forms a circular loop. There are foliage like projections from one part of the circle. There is a central straight bar across the main circle again with small foliage like projections. The front face of this strap fitting is rounded and the back face is flat. On the back face the fo…

An incomplete probable strap fitting, roughly rectangular in shape one quarter of which is bent backwards on itself. It measures 41mm in length and 13mm in width. The complete terminal of this object has two parallel U-shaped notches and then parallel rounded sides with a central tapering triangular projection forming the tip of the terminal, this probably represents a fleur-de-lis. Through the centre of the terminal there is an in situ copper-alloy rivet with a small square fragment of copper-alloy sheet attached to it. The other terminal is tapering and has been bent backwards up…
