A complete cast copper-alloy mount of probable medieval date (c.1150-1450 AD). Description: The mount is square in plan, and flat except for a central integral attahcment spike on the reverse. The decoration is in shallow relief. The front has a central circular raised boss, surrounded by two concentric, raised squares at 45 degrees to the square shape of the mount. The edge of the mount is decorated with a 16 petalled border. The patina is dark brown. An incomplete cast lead mount of medieval to post-medieval date (c.1300-1600). Description: The mount is in the form of a five-armed wavy star, two of which surive, the rest being stubs. Each slightly curved arm is sub-triangular in cross-section so that they are rasied at their centres. Smaller arms, inbeween these, are all broken off at their bases. Description: The object has an oval body, narrowing at each end to arms which end in rounded terminals, only one of which remains. It is D shaped in cross-section with five ridges formed by grooving on the central lobe. Gold sheet mount with applied filigree and granulation ornament on the upper surface. The sheet is an irregular discoid shape which flares slightly on one side to incorporate space for a pierced hole, probably for attachment. A Roman copper alloy lion terminal, possibly from the head of a pin or a mount for a casket or furniture, dating AD43-410. The object depicts a lion, laying with fron limbs extended forward and head slightly turned to the right. The fur and mane are created by a series od engraved crescent shaped lines. It sits atop a plinth, with a slightly bulbous cube beneath and a smaller plinth below. At the base of the lowest plinth is a circular hole, in which there are traces of iron. Fragment of a copper alloy mount, dating to the Post Medieval period. The mount is the lower half of openwork mount, in the form of a fleur de lis. The lis points downwards, with the side points curving into two loops. The mount is broken across the top. This would have formed a 'heart' shape (triangular with rounded ends and a point in the centre of the upper edge), now lost. LEIC-DE4755, on this database, is a more complete example. Iron Age copper alloy openwork strap fitting. It is oval in plan with openwork motifs formed of a central small pelta with a smaller inverted pelta below and a larger pelta to either side. There is a small oval opening located towards one of the longer edges; this opening has a U-shaped projection on both faces, with the open side of the projections on the outer edge of the fitting. Post Medieval cast copper alloy mount in the shape of an acorn. The overal mount is sub-triangular, with the lower section being crescentric with raised circles representing the cup, extending from the concave edge of the crescent is an oval with a small semi-circular knop representing the acorn. The reverse is hollow, and there is the remains of a damaged integrally cast lug, and a scar where a further lug would have been located. It has a dark green-black patina. It is 22.24mm long, 15.30mm wide, 3.14mm thick. Weight 2.8 grams.

A cast copper alloy Post-Medieval mount, 17th century. The mount consists of a central convex element, oval in plan. At each end is a fan-shaped terminal with grooves. On the rear are two integral lugs, both broken. Length 42.51mm, width 17.65mm, thickness 4.69mm, weight 8.6mm. The object has a smooth surface. There is some damage to the surface and some wear around the egdes. It has a very dark brownish green patina with light green corrosion product on the reverse and in the damaged areas. A cast copper alloy Medieval mount, 1250-1500. The mount has a central boss with a groove either side. There are two symmetrical terminals consisting of a short arm splaying out into a fan or tree shape. Both fans/trees have three grooves. The underside is undecorated and flat. One rivet hole can be seen through one of the terminals. Some rust from the iron rivet survives on the upperside, around the hole. The other terminal does not seem to feature a rivet hole although there is some rusting on the underside where one would expect a rivet hole to be. No parallels can be readily found…

Each terminal consists of a boss at the end of a short shaft, with a triangular knop at each end. The underside is flat and plain with two integral rivets, both broken. A probable Roman cast copper alloy mount. A flat mount with two rear rivets, both of which are curved inwards. The main part of the mount is made up of two crescents. One terminal of the mount has a rounded knop and the other a smaller, pointed knop. Where the rounded knop joins the main part of the mount are two transverse grooves. The mount is 23mm wide, 30mm long including knops, and 3mm thick excluding lugs. Weight 4.85g. It has a mid green patina and soil is still attached to it.
