An incomplete cast copper-alloy unidentified object of probable post-medieval date. Description: The object is a flat plate with a single hole through it. There is moulded decoration on one side which is difficult to identify, and the reverse side is flat. The perimeter is shaped with varying curved edges, apparently to match elements of the image. Silver-gilt badge in the form of a recessed roundel with two concentric circles forming a deep frame, the edges of which are dentillated. The centre of the badge is engraved with a crowned 'I' between two Tudor roses on a hatched background. The reverse of the badge is soldered with a strip of metal which has been broken off at the point where it doubles back forming a looped pin. A complete copper-alloy post-medieval knife handle terminal. The terminal is shaped like an horse's hoof and has iron corrosion. It curves downwards slightly at an angle and has a flat outer end. The inner surface is covered with iron corrosion where it would have joined the iron tang of a knife originally. A number of similar example have now been recorded with the PAS: e.g. SF-6B23D0, NLM-61F60B, SUR-1DCA47, IOW-E044C2, SOM-A63564 and LVPL-2ABAE1. A cast copper-alloy knife end cap of Post-Medieval date. It is rectangular in profile and oval shaped in section with moulded vertical ridges down each side. Both faces have incised decoration comprising a rectangular border containing a cross saltire, the edges suffering from corrosive copper-alloy and iron products. Plano-convex in section, the extant piece consists of the lower part of the object with a moulded double collar at the apex, terminating in an old break. The wider end has a well worn break,the narrower end has a figure-of-eight terminal where hook attachments would have fitted. The object is decorated with deeply molded grooves, diagonally across the surface. The back is undecorated. The object has a deep green patina.
