The back face is flat and has a now incomplete pin across its middle; this pin is soldered on and incomplete due to an old break. Discussion: Other Tudor cap-hooks are known from elsewhere, Gaimster (2002, 169-173) identifies them as a main category of Tudor dress accessory and it believed that they were used to embellish the hats of the Tudor elite. Silver cast probably Viking Age ingot, of sub-rectangular form with rounded terminals. The upper face is rounded and the underside flatter and rough, probably due to casting in an open mould. The ingot appears to have been deliberately worked with tiny hammer marks on the surfaces giving it a faceted appearance. There are also some deeper longer indentations, which may be due to damage from being scraped in the soil.
