An incomplete Roman copper-alloy finger ring dating to circa aD 200-300. It has a faceted octagonal bezel with steep flat walls. In the centre is a bluestone gem setting with a central motif of probable corn ears. Only one of the shoulders survive. A complete gold object which may have functioned as a finger ring or some sort of mount. The object is now distorted but is formed of a band of gold, one third of which is rectangular and flat in section with a central longitudinal groove with straight vertical tiny grooves across this. Either end of this flat band flares into a wider decorative openwork panel, also rectangular in over-all shape but defined by beaded filigree along its borders with a continuous piece of beaded gold wire running between the borders forming a wavy line. This would have been openwork originally but is no…

An incomplete cast copper-alloy finger ring of Roman date. Only the shoulders and bezel of the ring survive intact, the remainder missing due to old breaks. The shoulders are flat and have a slight carination to either side of the bezel. The bezel itself is flat, rectangular in form and has a raised central square. This is decorated with five incised pellets arranged as if on a dice. It measures 18.90mm in length, 8.91mm in width, 2.92mm in thickness, and weighs 1.98g. This is a finger ring similar to another example from Suffolk (SF-BCD915) and of Roman date.

The bezel is rectangular and the shoulder is angular and tapers into the narrower hoop, which has a D-shaped section. Dimensions: 15.4mm in length, 10.6mm in maximum width. Discussion: This finger ring is possibly of Henig's type VIII (M. Henig, A Corpus of Roman Engraved Gemstones from the British Isles (BAR 8), Oxford 1978), due to its angular shoulders. The precious metal content of this object fulfils the requirements of the Treasure Act in that it is greater than 10 %.

A gold finger ring of Medieval date. It has a simple undecorated wire hoop that expands at the shoulders and opposite the bezel narrows, perhaps partly due to use wear. The hoop is slightly misshapen and this appears to also be the result of usage rather than post-depositional damage. At the junction of hoop and bezel are prominent transverse rectangular ridges. A gold finger ring of Post-Medieval date. It has a plain hoop measuring 20.6mm in external diameter, 16.97mm in internal diameter, and the hoop width 5.5mm. It weighs 7.01g. There is an inscription on the inside of the hoop which reads:" As true to the as death to me ,". Judoe Rudoe, BM, notes that the inscription was in use by 1624 (recorded by Joan Evans) but there is no datable maker's mark, and the ring could be 17th or 18th century in date.
