A worn copper-alloy Roman as or dupondius of an Antonine empress, probably Faustina II (147-175 AD). No parallel for this coin could be found in RIC or the British Museum collections. The edges of the coin are extremely worn and demonstrate a degree of corrosion. However, they appear to have possibly been deliberately shaped, removing obverse and reverse legends and creating a faceted edge with rounded point at the exterior. This may indicate later usage or modification of the object.
