An incomplete Early Medieval copper-alloy pin dating to circa AD 800-850. It consists of a biconical head with median circumferential band. The shank is circular sectioned and terminates in an old break. There is no collar at the junction of the head and shank.  It is consistent with Flixborough Type 3 biconical head type, with examples with median bands and no collars noted at numbers 321 and 361 (Evans and Loveluck et al 2009: 44.

The object is heraldic, consisting of a flat, shield shaped head bearing the design of three chevrons inlaid with red enamel on one face and a cross fleuretty inlaid with red enamel on the other. An incomplete Post Medieval copper-alloy buckle dating to circa AD 1650-1720. The buckle is annular with two D-shaped loops separated by a central bar, now covered in iron corrosion, indicating the pin was made of an iron material. The frame is oval in plan with a convex and bevelled front face and concave revere and bevelled.  Similar buckles have been published (Whitehead 2003: page 48, No's: 278; 283).

The outer edge of the frame is expanded and plain. The rectangular-sectioned pin is intact, looped around the bar. It tapers into a point.  It is consistent with Meols Type 2  dating to the late 13 to early 14th century AD (Griffiths et al 2003).

The knop has a single narrow collar and is three-dimensional in form.  The interior bar is flat and has an attachment hole in the centre of the base, the hole is torn. An incomplete Post Medieval copper-alloy rowel spur dating to circa AD 1600-1700. The spur consists of both arms - terminating in old breaks - neck, and rowel box. The box is heavily damaged but contains a central rectangular slot for the now missing rowel. The arms are plano-convex in section and rectangular in plan. The box is circular sectioned. Traces of white metal coating survive on the surface.

A complete Medieval copper-alloy buckle dating to circa 1350-1400. It consists of a single D-shaped loop with offset bar. The outer edge is moulded with two pointed knops encasing three transverse incised grooves. The design is replicated on both faces. The pin is intact, wrapped around the bar. The pin is plano-convex in section and has a constricted neck between the loop and the body. The body tapers into a point.  It is consistent with Meols Type 10 buckles foundin contexts from the late 14th century AD (Griffiths et al. 2007: 84).
