The vessel has a heavily encrusted dark grey fabric with many small shelly or quartz inclusions, a dark grey exterior surface and paler pink/red ribbed interior surface. The sherd has a small circular perforation to one side, perhaps suggesting re-use at a later date. It measures 41.75mm in width, 38.11mm in height, 7.52mm in thickness, and weighs 14.34g.

A group of Medieval potsherds discovered with a few Roman sherds ( SF-D95841), scattered in field. The Medieval sherds include 15 coarse grey ware rims, mostly from a different cooking pots or jugs, along with three base sherds and six strap handle fragments. One of the rims has an applied strip around the neck. The handles are from smaller jugs and larger pitchers, two having stab decoration, one with triangular-shaped stabbing and the other with circular holes. Pitchers, jugs, jars and bowl forms are all represented, dating from the 12th to the 15th centuries AD.
