A cast lead weight, rectangular in form with a moulded fleur-de-lis on the front within a thin rectangular border. The reverse has a concave octagonal moulding. It measures 10.95mm in length, 9.55mm in width, 4.29mm in thickness, and weighs 3.51g (approximately 54 grains).
Similar weights are shown in Biggs and Withers (2000, 49; refs. 156, 157) and identified as goldsmiths' bullion weights of later medieval date, corresponding to fractions of the Paris troy ounce of 30.5g (2000, 46). Compare HAMP-DA84C2 and NARC-0F5D65.

Standing lead weight with flattened perforated top. The base is circular, 14 mm in diameter, and has a central depression 5 mm in diameter and 18.5 mm deep. The weight is cylindrical for about half its length, and then tapers and flattens to 8 x 4 mm. Here it has a 3 mm diameter circular perforation. Although this weight could have been hung from a steelyard (giving a variable weight) it could also have been used on its own; it wouldn't have been in a trader's interest to use it, though, as even today it is just over weight at 29.29g (1.01 oz).

Unusual lead trade weight. Although it is circular and stamped on one face with a crown, the reverse has some unusual features. The circle is 23 mm in diameter and 6 mm thick with a bevelled edge on the reverse. In the middle of the reverse is a short projecting lug with a burred-over end; one edge of this burred-over end projects out to the edge of the circle. The crown on the front is, I think, of the medieval type with a band around the head, a high central ornament and two lower side ornaments, but it is tall and thin and the details are blurred. The weight weighs 26.4g, which…

Copper-alloy cup weight for half a troy ounce. 9 mm tall, 22.5 mm in diameter at the top and 19 mm at the base, its hollowed-out middle is slightly off-centre. Around the rim are small neat ring-and-dot motifs. The base is slightly rounded and there are oblique filemarks around the outside. It weighs 14.51g, which is equal to 0.512 avoirdupois oz. and 0.4665 troy oz. As it is likely to have lost some weight through corrosion it therefore seems likely, as suggested by Biggs (English Weights: An Illustrated Survey, 1992), that this belongs to a troy weight system. He dates this type…

Square lead weight with relief decoration on one side. This is now hard to read, but appears to consists of a G within a reversed C, all within a circle. It is similar to those illustrated by Biggs (1992), 7 as possible apothecaries' weights of the 15th and 16th centuries. It weighs 4.34 grams (67 grains), a weight which does not seem to fit well into any known system.

Irregular conical lead weight, 16 mm tall and an oval 15 x 14 mm at the flat base. Very corroded. Weighs 12.42g (0.43 oz) so possibly originally intended for a half-ounce. Medieval or post-medieval.

Lead weight of 'standing' type. The base is sub-square, 15 x 15 mm, and flat; the corners are cut off to make facets of varying widths. All the faces taper to an irregular incurved top; it looks as if it has broken across a perforation. A secondary circular perforation 4 mm in diameter has been added 6 mm below. This modification would obviously have affected the weight of the object; perhaps this did not matter. The surviving height is 25 mm, and it weighs 34.12g (1.2 oz).

Lead weight of 'standing' type. The base is sub-rectangular, with one corner very rounded, and measures 12 x 18 mm. It is rather lumpy and looks as if it may have been made by rolling and folding lead sheet c. 2.5 mm thick, and heating until the layers fused, rather than casting. All the faces taper to an irregular top which has a rough perforation 2-4 mm across; the perforation runs between the narrower faces. On one face there is a deep transverse groove above the perforation. The surviving height is 34 mm, and it weighs 31.64g (1.1 oz).

Lead weight of conical 'standing' type. The base is circular, 14 mm in diameter, and flat. The weight tapers to a flattish top which has a very small perforation, narrowing in the centre to only about 0.5 mm across. There are slight vertical grooves above the perforation. The surviving height is 24 mm, and it weighs 23g exactly (0.8 oz).
