A silver-plated copper-alloy, probable contemporary copy, of a silver radiate of Philip I (AD 244-9), dating to the period AD 247-9 (Reece Period 12). It is a hybrid with reverse type of Gordian III (AD 238-44), PROVIDENT AVG, Providentia standing left, holding wand over globe and septre. Prototype Mint, Rome. A hybrid of this type exists - RIC IV, pt 3, p. 81, cf. no. 101A - but with the early obverse legend of Philip I, IMP M IVL PHILIPPVS AVG, as opposed to the IMP PHILIPPVS AVG on this coin.
