An incomplete copper-alloy possible strap fitting. Rectangular in shape, measuring 31.4mm in surviving length and 12.82mm in width. This object is slightly bent one third of the way along. It has two parallel incomplete probable rivet holes in the centre of the edge of either end. The front face is decorated with two sets of four opposing 'M' shaped motifs with a transverse bar in between them. There are also longitudinal boarder grooves along both of the long edges. Traces of gilding can also be seen on the front face. The back face is undecorated. No parallel could be …

A worn and incomplete copper-alloy probable strap mount. Consisting of a flat oval shaped plate with worn edges measuring 21.5mm by c23mm in size . There is a small integral rounded knop projecting from the centre of one edge of this plate. Projecting from the back face below this projection there is an integral cylindrical rivet, which would have presumably attached this mount to a strap of belt. The date of this probable mount is unknown.

Copper alloy mount. Central keyhole-like perforation, flat, curvilinear outline with onion shape on the broad end. A punched dot with double ring on the onion shaped part and notched edges at both ends are the only decoration. Attachment was by two integral rivets with large circular joined roves. 47mm long, 24mm wide, mount plate 1.5mm thick, plate to rove gap (i.e. strap thickness) 3.2mm. Two-rivet strap fittings are commonest in Roman military contexts (2nd-3rd C.) but no close parallel for this piece has been located.

Copper-alloy 'vulvate' or 'coffee-bean' mount, probably from a strap. Basically sub-rectangular with outcurved long sides, it is flat with a central hollow oval boss in the centre with a groove down the middle. Two integral rivets on the reverse to accommodate a strap 1-2 mm thick. Patches of a white-metal coating, now grey. This type of mount is thought to be imitating a vulva. 24 x 14 mm.

Piece of copper-alloy sheet with iron rivet, perhaps part of a strap fitting. The sheet fragment is 22 mm long and rectilinear, with one end perhaps original and one broken; it is 13 mm wide at the ?original end and 12 mm wide at the broken end. The ?original end has decoration on one face of two concentric grooves with the remains of an iron rivet at the centre; the broken end has the remains of a similar motif around an empty rivet hole. This face has a nice shiny dark green patina. The reverse is undecorated and unpolished. The fragment looks ancient, perhaps Roman to medieval…

Extremely corroded copper alloy mount, all edges missing but probably circular, with two integral rivets, one of which is damaged. The rivets are circular in section with integral circular roves at the ends (one now missing). The mount is flat-backed and has a rib on the front defining a circular area 11mm in diameter, originally a setting for a gem or enamel. It resembles a later Roman circular gilded brooch type.

Copper-alloy 'propeller-shaped' belt-stiffener, made up of a central circular lobe and top and bottom flaring lobes. The central lobe is decorated with a large central dot, surrounded by two wide concentric grooves and a narrow outer groove. Around this are eight rather irregularly set small ring-and-dot motifs. The top and bottom lobes have bevelled edges except for the corners. The sides have grooved borders which run right across the unbevelled corners to form small nicks at the edge. Between these grooves, the top and bottom have a double grooved border each enclosing a large…
