A silver Roman denarius of Elagabalus (AD 218-222), dating to AD 219 (Reece Period 10), P M TR P II COS II P P reverse type depicting Providentia standing left, legs crossed, holding rod and cornucopiae and leaning on column; at her feet, globe. Mint of Rome. RIC IV, part II, p. 29, no. 23. The green verdigris on the surface shows how the copper has leached from the base silver alloy - in the 3rd century, official silver coins were increasingly debased with copper.

A silver Roman denarius of Elagabalus (AD 218-222), dating to the period c.AD 218-222 (Reece Period 10). VICTOR[IA A]VG reverse type depicting Victory flying left, diadem in both hands, shields to sides, star in right field. Mint of Rome. Cf. RIC IV.2, p. 38, nos. 158-161. The coin is covered by copper-alloy corrosion products, it seems that it is a genuine silver denarius.
