VICTOR[IA A]VG reverse type depicting Victory flying left, diadem in both hands, shields to sides, star in right field. Mint of Rome. Cf. RIC IV.2, p. 38, nos. 158-161. The coin is covered by copper-alloy corrosion products, it seems that it is a genuine silver denarius.

Mint of Rome. RIC IV, part II, p. 29, no. 23. The green verdigris on the surface shows how the copper has leached from the base silver alloy - in the 3rd century, official silver coins were increasingly debased with copper.
