Description: Silver button of circa 17th century date, incomplete due to an old break on one edge. This button is circular in shape and has a down-turned edge, which is shaped and split in places. The front face is decorated with two hearts with a crown above them. Projecting from the centre of the front face there is a loop. Two coins found together at a site. They are both examples of the silver double patard (also known as the double plack) of Charles the Bold, Duke of Burgundy (1467-1477), striking coins in his capacity as count of Flanders. The standards of this coin was a little over 80% fine silver. The general description of the coin is as follows: Obv.: shield with the arms of Burgundy +KAROLVS DEI GRA DVX B(VR)G COM FLA (for Flanders). Description: Silver slightly bent post-medieval button. The head is flat and circular in shape with down-turned edges. The upper face is decorated with two pairs of concentric circles. Projecting from the centre of the back face there is a loop. Discussion: Although no exact published parallel could be found for this button it is probably most likely to be post medieval and circa 17th century in date.

Description: Silver mount, slightly damaged and incomplete on one edge due to an old break now worn. The mount is lozenge shaped, it has a moulded decorated front face with faceted sides and a hollow back face. The front face has a cherub's head in its centre with foliage sprouting from either side and below it. An almost complete flint Mesolithic tranchet axe recent damage to blade end and butt, revealing mottled grey flint underneath patinated/stained pale to medium browns. It has a tranchet edge large flake scars and roughly plano-convex cross-section. Reltaively straight sided and narrows slightly towards the butt which is sub-square. 115.80mm in length and 40.54mm in width and 24.40mm in thickness.

An unusual complete copper-alloy sword pommel, which has been confirmed as medieval and circa 14th century in date by Geoff Egan (PAS Finds Advisor) and James Robinson (British Museum). The pommel is square in section with four roughly oval shaped faces. It has a hole through its centre which is wider in the underside, this is partly filled with soil. It measures 29.68mm in height, 25.41mm by 24.81mm in width and thickness, 53.72g in weight. An incomplete cast copper alloy hook, probably from medieval horse-harness. It comprises a rectangular plate that is D-shaped in cross-section with a rounded upper end and a slight ridge down its centre. At the base of the plate is a moulded transverse collar followed by a shallow groove. Beneath the groove is an integral inward-curving hooked terminal. A Roman copper alloy barbarous radiate, c.AD 275-285 (Reece Period 14). Salus standing left holding a snake in right hand and sceptre in left. It was suggested that this coin copied Carausius, but it is more likely an earlier piece. This coin has been considered for Sam Moorhead's corpus for RIC.

A solid cast silver ingot of possible Early Medieval/Viking date. The ingot is oval in shape with rounded terminal ends. The upper and lower faces have been flattened and the edges are slightly faceted to give an almost pointed oval shaped section. The surfaces are slightly pitted and blackened in places and many horizontal striations are visible, perhaps the result of the production process or alternatively due to post-depositional damage.
