The bow and foot of a colchester derivative Polden Hill type bow brooch, the upper bow and head are missing due to old breaks. The bow and foot are flattened oval in section and have three parallel central longitudinal decorative grooves running down the front face to the tip of the foot, which is rounded. On the back face of the foot there is a longitudinal slot, this would have originally held a seperate sheet metal catchplate, now missing. One of two joining fragments of copper alloy brooch of unusual P-shaped type brooch - the second recorded as SF-F96AF4. This piece is the upper half of the bow. The two pieces form the bow and foot, missing axis bar and spring, pin and catchplate, with damage to the foot and patches of severe corrosion on the bow. The axis bar was iron, traces remain in a loop formed by bending over the top of the bow. The bow is rectangular in section, 6 x 2.2mm, and strongly arched in profile.
