An incomplete cast copper-alloy pin head of probable Roman or Middle Anglo-Saxon date. It is solid, biconical in form with the remains of a slight collare at the base of the head. From the collar extends a thin, integrally cast shaft that is circular in section and terminates in old breaks just below the head. The pin measures 20.85mm in length, 8.30mm in diameter, and weighs 1.76g in weight. Cast copper-alloy pin heads of this type were utilised in the Roman and later periods, particularly during the Middle Anglo-Saxon period. It is possible, therefore, that this example does date as…

The object terminates at both ends in old breaks making identification of its original form or function impossible. It has a dark green patina with some pitting in places and measures 50.33mm in length, 3.56mm in diameter, and 1.69g in weigh…

The head is a rough cube, measuring 4.8mm square at the top; it is 4.2mm tall and there is no collar between the base of the head and the top of the shaft. The corners of the cube have been cut off, leaving tiny triangular facets. All the faces are undecorated. The shaft is circular in cross-section and is 2.2mm in diameter at the top, where it tapers strongly to begin with; it then runs straight down to the fresh unpatinated break, at which it measures 1.5mm in diameter. Total length 15.0mm. Weight 1.0g. Silver pins…

A silver gilt pin head of early post-medieval date, probably 16th century. It is decorated with filigree with a band around the widest part dividing it in two. Above the band are three evenly spaced filigree spirals, each with a pellet at the centre. Additional pellets separate each spiral and a final pellet is on the top of the pin head. Below the band there are two filigree circles, one on each side of the pin head. Each of these contains four smaller equal filigree circles arranged in a square with a central pellet, one of which is missing. Between these two larger circles are furt…

A complete small copper alloy quoit-headed pin of Middle Bronze Age date. The flat loop of the head has slightly rounded edges and is circular with a central sub-circular, or tear-drop shaped, perforation. The faces of the head and the upper areas of the stem demonstrate evidence of diagonal abrasions, possibly cleaning marks.
