Description: A gold finger ring of Medieval date. It has a d-shaped hoop which is complete. It is decorated on the outside face with lozenges infilled with groups of pellets. It widens slightly to form a stirrup-shaped like bezel with a circular hole for a setting, which is missing. It is bent out of shape due to post-depositional damage.
Discussion: For comparison see a silver finger-ring from Ewell, Surrey (2005 T93) dated to the 13th Century.

Description: A complete gold finger ring made of a flattened band engraved on the exterior with a French inscription in lower-case gothic or 'black-letter' script. The inscription begins with a small cross, and the words alternate with three very similar designs of a two-branched plant, one branch shorter and the other longer, each with thin leaves and ending in a feathery trefoil flower. The inscription reads en bon cuer (in good heart).
There is also engraving on the interior of the hoop, made up of a single wheat stalk followed by what looks like two sets of initials separated b…

Workflow stage: Published
An incomplete cast copper-alloy Roman finger ring. The back of the hoop and the setting are missing due to old breaks, and the edges of the hoop show signs of post-depositional damage and corrosion. The hoop is flattened, oval shaped in section and expands horizontally at the shoulders towards the flattened bezel. At the centre of the bezel the ring has been slightly flattened and bent probably as a result of post-depositional damage. The bezel itself is oval shaped in form with an oval shaped recess that would presumably originally have held in place a setting that is now missing due…
