A copper-alloy Iron Age to Roman cosmetic mortar, dating to 100 BC - AD 200. It is a centre-looped mortar with a crescent bow and slightly convex walls; it has a shallow U-shape sectioned groove. The terminals are very worn and they might have been shaped into bull's head. The circular loop is circular and protrudes form the lower edge of the bow.The surfaces are heavily abraded. Cf. Jackson ( 2010), several examples have knobbed and bull's heads terminals (cf. nos. 59, 110, 144, 173). An incomplete copper-alloy Iron Age to Roman cosmetic mortar, dating to 100 BC - AD 410. It survives part of the crescent-shaped bow, which ends in a three dimensional bovine head. The bow has a U-shaped cross section; the sides wall have traces of triangular cells, which contains light-colored enamel. It is worn. it belongs to Jackson Type J. It has a crescent shaped bow, missing one half/end due to old breaks, that is V-shaped in section and expands at its back towards the centre. At the centre are the remains of an incomplete but integrally cast suspension loop of uncertain form, while at the surviving terminal end there is an incomplete globular projection perhaps intended to be stylised and zoomorphic in nature. A complete copper alloy Roman centre-looped cosmetic mortar. The crecentic bow is strongly-curved in profile with rounded sides, an angular keel and deep, narrow, V-sectioned groove in the centre of the upper face. At each end the terminal knobs are hemispherical with two raised collars behind. The suspension loop sits in the centre of the base of the bow. It is large, circular and square in cross-section, flanked by D-sectioned straight struts with neatly scrolled perforated ends. The mortar survives in very fine condition with a pale green patina. An incomplete, and very small, copper-alloy end-looped cosmetic mortar of Late Iron Age to Roman date. It has a crescent shaped bow, tapering towards its terminal end, that is V-shaped in section with deep, worn central groove on the interior surface. At the thicker end of the bow the object expands to an integral oval shaped loop, missing its outer edge due to old breaks. All surfaces have a worn and corroded green patina. A copper-alloy Late Iron Age to Roman cosmetic mortar with a central loop of very unusual form. The bow is crescent shaped and is 54.86mm long, 11.31mm wide across its centre, 9.69mm thick across its centre and the internal longitudinal groove is 6.15mm deep. One terminal of the bow has a large rounded knob with a moulding where it joins the bow.
