An incomplete copper-alloy Roman Colchester derivative double pierced lug bow brooch. Only the upper half of the bow, wings and half of the spring survive, the remainder now missing due to old breaks. The wings are flat, rectangular in form, one having a single vertical groove close to its outer edge. At the centre the wings are separated by an integrally cast double pierced lug that holds in place the remains of a copper-alloy wire spring chord and spring, of which six coils survive. Only the foot of the bow and part of the catch plate survive, the remainder of the object is missing due to old breaks, now worn. The bow is D-shaped in section with two transverse grooves on the front face, towards the base. At the base of the bow is an integrally cast catch plate that is triangular in form with triangular openwork decoration and a rectangular pin groove. This brooch measures 26.08mm in length, 3.36mm in width, 3.21mm in thickness, 2.33g in weight.
